About Inventing Real Life

cropped-thefam.jpg

Originally, Inventing Real Life was meant to be a practice blog, for Writing 101 and Blogging 101. It was also meant as a place to let my classmates know about my soon-to-launch Pinterest Bucket List Project at hunnedo.com. To be an expert at anything would be a treat, I’ve tried many things, stuck with a few discarded even more. My only claim to a niche would be my own wandering and wondering.

After posting a few entries, I discovered that I have much more to say that doesn’t exactly fit into the confines of a bucket list project. Inventing Real Life has so much more to do with establishing order for the random thoughts that ramble inside of my head. After turning five-oh, I find that the world I took for granted for so long can be put in another perspective. Paradigms have shifted and my feet are looking for steady ground. I’m an analog girl in a digital world.

A mom to three adult daughters, I was given the gift of another chance at motherhood in my mid-forties (biblical, I know!). I have a son who is six years old. It is vastly different to be an older mom to a young boy than it is to be a young mom. An entire generation passed between my youngest daughter, Emma, and her little brother, Harry. Electronic devices are the biggest difference. Babies easily swipe pages on a IPad, where my girls had to wait and listen to the noise of our dial up internet connection. Harry is becoming a Minecraft addict impresario.

As an active advocate for Oilfield Families, I belong to a number of Facebook Communities and groups. This has helped me to become a begrudging student of economics on both a Macro and Micro level. As of this writing, many families involved in American Oil are experiencing layoffs and workforce reduction.

Any and all points of view are welcome, I look forward to meeting all of you in the big wide world of blogging!

  12. Oh those paradigm shifts! But truly, isn’t it fascinating how we have no idea what something is going to look like from the other side of where we’ve arrived? And your wonderful post has given me the heads up to remember that. 🙂

  13. Thanks so much for stopping by and following my blog. I have a sister that is 13 yrs younger than me and I have watched how my parents raised her vs me and my other sister. It has been quite interesting. I am looking forward to your thoughts on being an analog girl in a digital word. 🙂
